Corporate Real Estate Industry Veterans Launch New Consulting Firm

Jim Norman and Rob Larsen launch Norman Partners, formalizing long-standing collaboration
On April 03, 2012 - By Maureen Wilkey

SEATTLE, Wash. –  Jim Norman and Rob Larsen, Seattle-based corporate real estate industry veterans are pleased to announce that they have formalized their long-standing collaboration and formed Norman Partners, a real estate advisory firm with a focus on strategy.  The firm will continue leveraging the clearpath TM strategic planning tool, and build on the legacy of The Norman Company, which was one of the region’s largest real estate services firms in the 1980s and 1990s before its sale to The Trammell Crow Company.  The firm will serve all corporate, institutional and not-for-profit sectors, focusing on Pacific Northwest organizations with complex real estate portfolios that include some combination of health care, office, industrial, educational and institutional facilities.

Jim Norman joins Norman Partners as principal, most recently from his role as principal at MetPartners, after a long career that included founding and running The Norman Company.  Rob Larsen joins Norman Partners as principal, most recently following his role as principal at ClearPath Real Estate, where his team pioneered the use of the clearpathTM strategic planning system in corporate real estate.  (Full bios are included below.)

Originally created to design, develop and manage Disney Theme Parks, the visually-based clearpath TM system is an innovative approach to strategic planning that uses storyboarding to map out all the complex functions of a corporate or institutional real estate portfolio.  This is much like the model did for the development of theme parks like Epcot center, harmonizing timing and function.  This visualization allows Norman Partners to guide executives, CFOs and other stakeholders through both strategic planning processes—and serves as a roadmap to execution.

Norman Partners will use this system to develop and implement real-estate strategies – guiding corporate and institutional organizations to optimize their assets and achieve their business goals. In addition to Norman and Larsen, the firm brings together teams of experts in the local and regional real-estate markets to discover how all the facilities within corporate and institutional real estate portfolios can help generate higher value throughout an organization, and also to execute those strategies.  In the tradition of The Norman Company, Norman Partners will use a professional services industry compensation model based on the relationship that most firms have with their lawyers and accountants, and reflects a fiduciary relationship based on confidentiality and alignment of interests.
